Student Support Services is funded by a federal TRIO grant in the total amount of $292,337 for the 2012-13 program year. This funding accounts for 100% of the project's total costs.
The project is funded by the United States Department of Education under the Title IV Higher Education Act of 1965 and serves 200 first generation and income eligible students at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. By providing key services, SSS aims to promote the retention and graduation of the students it serves.
Services are free to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who meet eligibility guidelines, as determined by the U.S. Department of Education.
Priority is given to students who meet two of the following criteria:
Income eligible student, as determined by current federal income guidelines
First generation college student (neither parent has a four-year college degree)
Students with documented disabilities may be served.
Purpose of Student Support Services (SSS) program:
Student Support Services is a project designed to help students maximize their academic potential and achieve their academic and personal goals. Our program provides the encouragement, information, and positive support that make our offices a "home away from home" for our students.
