Past Events
On Friday, February 22, the ASC's tutoring center in Davee Library 104 hosted a Brazilian food and culture event. This event was sponsored by the Speakers' Corner Club, a student organization associated with ESL Tutoring Services. The event was coordinated by UWRF's Brazilian International Students. Gustavo Cavalheiro was the main organizer of the event, and purchased the Brazilian food for the event, using Speakers' Corner Club funds. Ana Paula Brumann Clemente, Lilian Bibiano, and Elaine Galvão prepared the food. The banquet, once prepared, included passion fruit mousse, cheese and fruit kebabs, rolls stuffed with meat and cheese, and spiced Brazilian beef.
In addition to food, the event offered cultural education. Guto and the other Brazilian students shared a variety of knowledge about their home country with the guests, discussing Brazilian politics, farming techniques, geography, and society. The event also featured Brazilian music and Brazilian dance lessons. Roughly fifty people attended. Most of the attendees were enrolled UWRF students, but a few faculty members and children of faculty members showed up for the event as well. A good time was had by all!
