Education:

B.S., East Tennessee State University;
Ph.D., University of Tennessee.

Sandy teaches broadcast news writing and reporting courses plus a variety of other courses including Race, Class and News. She worked as a radio news director and reporter and a newspaper reporter/photographer in North Carolina. Additionally, she was a photojournalist for TV stations in Tennessee and Virginia.

Sandy has a B.S. from East Tennessee State University and a Ph. D. from the University of Tennessee. Her research interests focus on race and news media, newsroom management and media history. She is an avid collector of old communication equipment including radios, TVs and telephones.
