The "Falcon Scholars in France" Learning Community introduces first-year students to the importance of global education for the 21st century. Participants in this unique program will learn another language, travel abroad, earn Honors credits, and have the option to engage in service learning during their stay in the Loire Valley in France. All courses included in the Learning Community fulfill General Education and/or College of Arts and Sciences Liberal Arts requirements. Be one of ten students selected for this exciting opportunity to live and learn abroad during your first-year at UW-River Falls!
Any first-year student is eligible to participate in "Falcon Scholars in France." Participants are not limited by major so anyone is eligible to apply, regardless of area of study.
If you are interested in living and learning abroad during your first year, you simply need to complete and submit an online form that explains your interest in this unique opportunity. After reviewing the submissions, we'll contact the selected participants no later than May 1, 2010.
There is no additional fee for participation during the fall semester. During the spring semester, participants should expect to spend approximately $14,600 which includes airfare, ground transportation, lodging, food, personal travel, educational supplies, and tuition. Additional financial aid may be available to program participants. Contact the Financial Aid Office for additional information about the programs available to you to finance your trip.

Fall Semester (7 credits at UWRF):
FREN 101 (Beginning French I)
ENGL 105 (Literature and the Human Experience)
(Honors students will also take HON 181: Freshman Honors Seminar)
Spring Semester (13 credits in France):
FREN 102 (Beginning French II)
ECON 101 (Basic Economics)
HIST 102 (World Civilization)
ENGL 203 (World Literature)
(Honors students will also participate in the Abbey's Ambassador Series)
