Fall 2013 - Request for Early Arrival Housing
The residence halls open for the fall term for new students starting on Saturday, August 31, 2013, and continues through the first day of classes on Wednesday, September 4. The halls open for returning students on Sunday, September 1, 2013, and continues through the first day of classes on Wednesday, September 4.
If you need to request an arrival on-campus prior to the dates above, fill out then submit the early arrival form linked at the bottom of this page. All requests must be received a minimum of 72 business hours in advance of your requested arrival date. These requests are not guaranteed until you receive an email from Residence Life approving or denying your request.
The following are examples of requests that will be denied:
We have family plans and cannot come on the designated move in date.
My roommate is an athlete and has to move in early. I want to set up the room at the same time.
I have a job off campus and the employer wants me to start one week early.
I know someone that did this last year.
I have a state fair conflict.
The lease on my summer apartment ends before my move-in day.
Early arrival room rates: Early arrival charges are $20 per person/per night. All early arrival charges will be placed on your university account. Once your request is approved, you will be billed from the date you are approved to move in through your scheduled check in day for Fall semester.
Some halls unavailable: Students requesting early arrival into the following halls (Parker, Hathorn, Crabtree, and Ames) may not be approved due to major renovation and construction projects in those halls. Due to the shortage of space available, we may not be able to accommodate requests from students in these buildings to be placed in other temporary locations until their permanent Fall location opens. As we know more about the completion of these projects, refer to this page for updates on the possibility of making an early arrival request for these halls.
Food and other services: There is no on-campus food service available for early arrivals until the residence halls are officially open. In addition, there are limited staff and services in the halls available as we are busy preparing for hall opening.
Approval/denial of your request for early housing: You will receive an e-mail either indicating either you are approved as an early arrival or your request has been denied.
Check-in for approved early arrivals: If you are approved for a weekday arrival, you must check in between 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday at the Department of Residence Life, located in the East portion of Hathorn Hall. You will access our office from the G parking lot and go to the east door with the black awning over it. If you are approved for a time outside business hours/days you will need to call the on-call number posted on the door at each residence hall.
