The Position:
This is a one year full-time outreach position in the new Center for Dairy Farm Safety at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) in partnership with the National Farm Medicine Center in Marshfield, WI that is available due to a 4 year renewable grant from Federal OSHA’s Susan Harwood Safety Grant program.  The position reports to the Director of Risk Management at UWRF. 
The outreach specialist will develop and present formalized training programs for dairy farm owners and operators across the State of Wisconsin that will help them build an occupational safety and health program for their farm, assure worker safety, and reduce injuries and illnesses for their employees. The specialist will work with adult and continuing education groups on new techniques and practices through meetings, workshops, conferences, the preparation of advisory publications and other means. May conduct field research to apply and evaluate research applicable to the group.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Develop relationships with external customers in order to assure creation of a relevant program based on needs. 
•    Research and develop “best practice” examples of safety training and educational materials.
•    Prepare, schedule, and present dairy farm safety training modules to trainers and end users.
•    Design and distribute reports, correspondence, brochures, flyers, newsletters, and other materials as needed.
•    Schedule and draft agendas for meetings.  Lead meetings and write minutes (including any action items) for distribution to group members.
•    Assist in creation and execution of marketing campaign.
•    Attend selected community events and staff booths.

Required Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must meet all of the following:
•    Bachelor's degree in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position.
•    Valid driver’s license in good standing.
•    Ability to communicate ideas effectively orally, in writing, and through educational technology.
•    Ability to read and interpret federal, state and local government regulations (i.e. OSHA, NFPA, EPA/DNR, etc.).
•    Experience with Microsoft products™ (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).

The following knowledge, skills and abilities are preferred
:
•    Content knowledge in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position such as adult education, agricultural education, agribusiness, animal/dairy science, or environmental health and safety.
•    Successful experience in curriculum development for adult learners and train-the-trainer programs.
•    Ability to organize work to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
•    Ability to work in team or group setting.
•    Comfortable with public speaking.
•    Working knowledge of North American dairy farm operations.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Experience with Microsoft products  (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point)
