The Mission of the Spanish Professions Association (SPA) is to serve as a cultural bridge between UWRF students and the community by bringing to the Modern Language Department a variety of speakers from diverse professional backgrounds in the region.

UPCOMING SPEAKER: on Tuesday, April 23rd at 6:00pm, Ms. Annastacia Belladonna, J.D. & M.A.M. will speak about her experience as Interim Area Office Director for the MinneapolisOffice of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and as a Program Director for theState of Minnesota's Department of Transportation Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE). Mr. Hector Garcia spoke to the Spanish Professions Association in March 2013. Mr. Garcia is the Executive Director of the Chicano Latino Affairs Council (CLAC) in Minnesota. He spoke about his leadership in the organizational structure of CLAC in the area of forming strategic partnerships with outside agencies, as well as his involvement with the Minnesota Legislature and Governor with Latino-specific issues and policy recommendations.

 

Diego Higuera (center) spoke to the SPA in December 2012. Mr. Higuera, from Colombia, is the owner of a successful company: SIMPLY ¡Tienda! located in Bogotá, Colombia.

Petrona Melgarejo spoke at the SPA in October 2012. Ms. Melgarejo is a Federal Investigator at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
