New Student Registration - Transfer Students

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls!  The Department of New Student and Family Programs is excited to welcome you and your family to our campus community.

One of the first steps to becoming a Falcon is attending a Registration Program.  During this one-day program, you’ll meet with academic advisors, select courses, register for classes, meet other new students, and learn more about campus resources.

Students admitted for the 2013-14 academic year may sign-up online to attend a Registration Program, please log-in with your student ID and password.

You will need to activate your Falcon Account and know your student ID and password before signing up for a Registration Program.  Your student ID was shared with you in your Admission letter and you can activate your account/select your password online.

Important Program Information

Placement Testing

All new transfer students who have not taken courses in English composition and/or math are required to take the Wisconsin Regional Placement Tests before registering for classes.   Academic advisors need your score(s) to place you in the appropriate classes.  If you are not sure whether you need to take any of these exams, please contact the Admissions Office at 715-425-3500 or e-mail admit@uwrf.edu

Placement Tests are offered throughout the state until late summer; however, should be taken by May 19, if attending a Registration Program in June, to ensure your scores are received by our campus and are ready to be reviewed by an academic advisor during Transfer Student Registration.  You can register for one of the regional testing dates online.

If you are unable to attend a regional testing date prior to May 19, you can take your Placement Tests on campus in the University Center the afternoon before you scheduled registration.  Placement Tests are offered on June 3 and 4 at the following times (you do not need to register for these testing dates):

  • Modern Language Test - 3:00 p.m.
  • Math Placement Test - 4:15 p.m. (non-graphing calculators are allowed)
  • English Placement Test - 6:00 p.m.

*Up to 90 minutes is allowed for each exam, please plan accordingly.

OTHER REMINDERS:

Check Your UWRF E-mail - Regularly
Your UWRF e-mail account is used for all official communication from the University, including billing information.  It is your responsibility to check this account regularly.

Pay Your Enrollment Deposit
You are required to pay a $100 tuition deposit prior to registering for classes.  You will need your ID number that was included in your admission letter. The deposit should be paid online or mailed to:

Student Billing and Financial Aid Service Counter
410 S. 3rd St.
River Falls, WI 54022

Sign-Up for Housing/Dining
All freshmen and sophomores who do not meet exemption requirements are required to live in University residence halls. If you have not yet signed up for housing/dining you should do so as soon as possible.

Apply for Financial Aid
All students are encouraged to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)link. Our FAFSA School Code is 003923.  If you have not done so already, complete the FAFSA if you expect to need financial aid, including loans, to pay your fall tuition bill.

Apply for Reciprocity
If you are a Minnesota resident, be sure to fill out the Reciprocity Formlink now for the upcoming academic year. This simple form will allow you to pay a tuition rate comparable to what is charged at a similar Minnesota school.

Be Prepared to Pay Your Bill
A billing statement is available online to students approximately one month prior to the start of the term.  It is a student's responsibility to access their billing statement through their eSIS account and pay their balance by the published deadlines.

To avoid all late fees and finance charges, students should pay account balances in full by the first due date for the term.  All charges on the student account are eligible for an optional partial payment plan.  A $75 late fee will be charged to a student's account if the minimum payment is not received by the first due date.  There is a 1% per month finance charge on unpaid balances.  "Pending aid" as shown in eSIS is considered an on-time payment for the first payment due date and should be deducted from total charges to determine the balance and minimum payment owed by a student.  Loans must be accepted and external scholarship funds must be received to be included in pending aid.

To have a better idea of how much it will cost you to attend UWRF, please review approximate expenses for attending UWRF, tuition, billing, payment, and refund information.

Move-In
New Student Move-In is one of the most exciting days of your college experience - it is the day you'll begin to make UWRF your new home away from home!  However, Move-In Day can also create a lot of anxiety for new students as you prepare to pack your belongings and move to a new home.  New Student Move-In is scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2013.
