Moving In

Moving to your new place can be both exciting and stressful.  Between unpacking and arranging your furniture, getting all the utilities hooked up, and battling it out with your roommates for the best room, there is a lot to consider.  Below are some helpful tips and resources to make the transition easier.  In addition, Student Affairs has created an off campus housing packing list for students renting their own place so you can begin your adventure prepared and comfortable!

Changing your address:

Changing your address is simple and one of the first steps you should take when moving into your new place.  You can pick up a change of address form at any local post office and submit it directly to them or you can do it online through the U.S. Postal  Service's website.

Voter registration:

Moving into a new home is a great time to register to vote or update your current voter registration information.  The forms for doing so are available on the DMV's website.

Utilities, electric, and cable:

This may be your first time connecting utilities and perhaps you're not sure which company to call.  The utilities, electric, cable, and more page has information to guide you through the process.  The most important thing to remember is to make arrangements in advance to ease the stress of moving in to your new place.
