WHAT: Fishing the Scenic St. Croix River – Prescott, WI

WHEN: Wednesday, October 3 – 12:00pm - 3:30pm
 
WHERE: Attendees participating in the St. Croix River Fishing Expedition will depart from Prescott, WI at 12:30PM.  The fishing pontoon will pick participants up on the dock located at the public boat launch downtown Prescott. Fishing participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from their destination.  The boat launch has parking for vehicles with trailers only, but there is free parking just to the south of the boat launch docks on Front Street.  Strong encouragement to car pool with other fishing attendees is recommended.
 
MISC:  Please note that all attendees are required to purchase a Wisconsin Fishing License in order to participate.  WIRSA or UW-River Falls is not responsible for participants that fail to abide by these regulations.  There is a very strong possibility that the pontoon will be stopped by the DNR as nearly all fishing vessels are stopped and checked for necessary licensure.  If you need to purchase a license you may do so online by visting the Wisconsin DNR web site.
 
ITEMS TO BRING: Any beverages or snack items you may wish to consume on the trip outing.  If anyone wants ice please stop by the Knowles Center Field House on your way out of town and the RSF staff would be happy to fill your cooler for FREE.  You are responsible for your own fishing pole, tackle box, any other items you need for fishing.  I have found that shiny crank baits, shad Raps, buck tails (#3 and #4’s) work well for small mouth bass and northern pike.  Any live bait that you wish to use either leeches or night crawlers can be purchased at any of the down town gas stations prior to the boat launch.  There is a wide variety of fish species to be caught on the St. Croix.  (Sun Fish, Muskie, Walleye, Crappie, Small Mouth Bass, Northern Pike, Carp, Catfish, etc.)  Make sure you bring some weight/sinkers as there is a difference fishing the river versus a lake.  Slip bobber fishing works well on the St. Croix if you are familiar with that method of rigging.

WHAT: Kayaking trip.

WHEN: Wednesday, October 3, 2012 Depart: 11:00am. Return: 4:00pm

WHERE: The Kinnickinnic River's lower canyon. Read more about Kayaking down the Kinni. (Meeting location TBD)

MISC:  Trip led by Dave Dietrich of UW-River Falls. Run the Class I rapids of the Kinnickinnic’s lower canyon. This 4 hour paddle takes you through moss covered canyons, sandy beaches, and forested cliffs. Many opportunities exist for viewing bald eagles, whitetail deer, red fox, trout, and river otters. Some kayaking experience on moving water is strongly recommended. Rock gardens, strainers, and gravel bars are present. Items provided: Kayak, paddle, dry bag, and PFD from Kinni Creek Lodge and Outfitters.

ITEMS TO BRING: Snacks, water, change of clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and camera. Wear secure footwear, synthetic/quick dry clothing (not cotton) is best!

WHAT: Golf tournament to benefit the WIRSA scholarship fund.

WHEN: Wednesday, October 3 – 12:00pm - 4:00pm

WHERE: River Falls Golf Club. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the course.
