Hundreds awarded annually at UWRF!


 

Recipients of all UWRF scholarships receive e-mail notification from the Financial Aid office in April or May. Recipients of the Donna J. Arne scholarship will be notified by the Sociology, Criminology, and Anthropology Department in April and a certificate will be presented at the Department Awards Reception in the spring. Certificates may also be picked up or received by email.

All scholarship awards are contingent on students meeting eligibility requirements as defined by the UW-River Falls Foundation and the Financial Aid office.
 

Just for Sociology majors

Donna J. Arne Scholarship
(Established by Professor Emeritus Bob Pionke in honor of Donna Arne, Office Manager for Sociology and Geography, upon her retirement in 1997.)

This scholarship supports entering juniors majoring in Sociology with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and demonstrated financial need.


Preference given to Sociology majors

Drs. Clifford and Carole Mottaz Scholarship
Awarded to a transfer student (a student who has completed some portion of their undergraduate work at another institution and is new to the UWRF campus in the fall of the year in which the scholarship is awarded) to UW-River Falls. First preference should be given to a student who intends to major in sociology.  Second preference should be given to a student who intends to major in psychology.


Other scholarships suitable for Sociology majors

Annette Harrison and Dr. Robert Pionke Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to an undergraduate, female student over 25 years of age, who demonstrates need, aptitude, a potential for professional achievement and excellence, as well as a commitment to attain a degree from UW-River Falls.

Dean Neal Prochnow Arts and Sciences Scholarship
Student must have declared major in College of Arts and Sciences, currently enrolled as a first time freshman at UWRF and who will be returning for the next academic year.  The student must have a clear plan for graduation from UWRF (verified by student advisor) and must be active in department and university activities, or have begun to participate in research or creative activities in the department. A letter of support must be provided from a faculty member in their declared major.  Preference can be given to first generation college students or students of color.
