Volunteer Opportunities: All of our programs are free and available to any family that seeks them.  We are funded by private grants, contracts, and donations.  We are always in need of volunteers to help with or hold fundraisers.  Volunteers can hold a bake sale or work the food wagon at Nilsson's in Baldwin.

Mission: Family Means strengthens communities by strengthening families.

Volunteer Opportunities:

• Respite Volunteer - Provide in-home companionship and informal care for a child or adult with a chronic illness or disability in order to give the primary caregiver a break or “respite” from the responsibilities of care giving.  Activities may include visiting, games, reading, playing inside or outside with children, etc.  Families live in various places in Washington County in Minnesota.  Weekday, evening and weekend times are available.  Time commitment is 4-16 hours per month for a period of at least 4 months.  
• Cimarron Youth Program Assistant - Provide assistance to youth of diverse backgrounds at an after-school program in Lake Elmo.  The volunteer will help create a fun and safe environment where showing respect is top priority.  The volunteer will engage in computer activities, arts and crafts, sports and games, creative play, etc.  Suggested time commitment is 12-16 hours per month for a period of at least 3 months.

Volunteer Opportunities: Exhibit hall volunteers supervise the gallery from the lower level staff desk for two-hour shifts during exhibits.  Volunteers record visitor attendance, and assist with opening or closing the gallery, depending on their shift time.  Shifts are available on weekday afternoons and evenings, and weekends.  Preference is given to volunteers who can commit to a regular weekly shift for a period of months.  If a student needs service learning hours, they may request a project to work on during these hours; possibilities include promotions/public relations or archiving files from previous shows; students may also suggest a project. Otherwise, the position allows time for study or reading.  A computer is available for use during these shifts, as is wireless access.

We have many building grounds projects that require ongoing repetition that our normal staff cannot necessarily get to as regularly as we would like   oiling of woodworking/pews, window cleaning (we have many windows internally and externally), disinfecting all hand-touch surfaces during colds and flu seasons, floor care help at the church and school. Mission: Courage is a non-profit rehabilitation and resource center who serves children and adults experiencing barriers to health and independence. Volunteer Opportunities: St. Croix Hospice is in need of people like you to volunteer their time visiting patients with terminal illnesses and their families. We serve over 150terminally-ill patients throughout the greater Twin Cities and western Wisconsin. Volunteers are in need in all areas especially River Falls and Hudson! We have many different types of volunteer opportunities available. Volunteers can choose from the following areas:

Hospice Companionship - trained volunteers who befriend a patient, and offer the patient and the family emotional support by being a supportive and compassionate visitor. The majority of these volunteers visit patients weekly on a flexible schedule. Most visits range from 1-2 hours a week.

Pet Therapy Companions - trained Companion volunteers who have certified therapy dogs can make a huge difference in the lives of our patients who love animals. We accept dogs and other animals who have gone through a training program such as Delta Society, Therapy Dogs International and Therapy Dogs Inc.

Vigil Companions - This is an area of our volunteer program that aims to provide compassionate presence when our patients reach the very end of their journey. These volunteers are specially trained to provide emotional support to the family during a difficult time.
