Student Teaching Admission Requirements


To be eligible for student teaching students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Admission to Teacher Education.
  2. Successful completion of all techniques courses with a grade of "B" or better for secondary education students, and grades of "C" or better for elementary students in the block courses.
  3. Successful completion of all required professional education, and major courses with no grades lower then a "C".
  4. Minimum Grade Point Averages:
    1. Undergraduates: Grade Point Average of at least of 2.75 in each of the following: teaching major(s), certifiable minor(s), if any, and professional education coursework. In addition to the above you must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of a 2.75.
    2. Graduates: Grade Point Average of at least of 3.0 in all graduate and undergraduate courses taken as a part of your teacher preparation program
  5. Successful completion of a minimum of 100 hours of field experiences.
  6. Satisfactory completion of the appropriate human relations requirement.
  7. Current Wisconsin Criminal Background Check (within the past two years); a MN placement may require additional background checks (per. the school district)
  8. A current tuberculosis test with the results on file in the Field Experience Office
  9. Successfully complete Praxis II requirements in all areas you are seeking licensing in.
