PRAXIS TESTING INFORMATION

Praxis I Preprofessional Skills Test (PPST)

The Praxis I (PPST) is generally taken during your first or second year of college. .You must pass all sections of the Praxis I (PPST) before you can be admitted into the Teacher Education program.

Additional Information regarding Wisconsin's Praxis Testing Requirements

  • Paper-based tests are given at UWRF in September, November, and April of each year. UWRF does not offer computer based testing.
  • Study guides can be purchased in the bookstore of from educational Testing Services www.ets.org, a sample test book is available in WEB 203. You may check the book out for one day.

IMPORTANT: Use code 1918 for the Institution Code. Note: There are 2 codes for UWRF. Do NOT use code 0329 UW-River Falls (SPL/Audio)) as your test results will not be sent to UWRF.

Praxis II Test (Subject Assessment)
Undergraduate students are required to complete this requirement before student teaching. Students who took the test before 7/1/04 are not subject to a minimum passing score in the state of Wisconsin. Students who take the test after 6/31/04 must receive the minimum passing score before they can student teach.

If you are seeking to be licensed in your minor, you need to take that test as well. If you are an Elementary Education major, only students whose minor is in TESOL, Health, or Foreign Languages, AND you want to be licensed in that field, will need to take an additional test.

Register at www.ets.org/praxis (you must register approximately one month prior to the date of the exam).
