The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), a member of the University of Wisconsin System , is located 30 miles from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul in scenic west central Wisconsin . Year around arts, cultural and recreational events are easily accessible. UWRF's 6,400 undergraduate and graduate students pursue degrees in four colleges: Arts and Sciences; Education and Professional Studies; Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Science; and Business and Economics. The University provides an excellent environment for learning, emphasizing the importance of faculty-student interaction in classrooms, laboratories, academic advising, and co-curricular activities. A favorable student-faculty ratio affords opportunity for meaningful interchange between faculty and students. Strong interests in teaching, research and community service are highly valued.

The Position:

Tenure track Assistant Professor position: Teach undergraduate/graduate courses in special education (i.e., the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classrooms, introductory cognitive disabilities, and introductory learning disabilities) and participate in departmental, college and university committees. The candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly activities. These activities include, but are not limited to, publishing in professional journals and/or presentations at professional meetings. Additional responsibilities include advising undergraduate students and collaborating with colleagues in departmental activities. Compensation is based on qualifications including education and experience .

Qualifications:

Doctorate or master's degree in special education or related field by time of appointment. Candidates holding only the master's degree must be enrolled in a doctoral program at the time of application. Must have earned doctorate by time of tenure. Three years of practical experience may be considered an asset. A demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University's commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
