June 13, 2008 Falcon wide receiver Michael Zweifel (So., Whitewater, Wis.) has earned honorable mention to the 2008 Consensus Draft Services (CDS) Div. III Pre-Season All-American team. Zweifel, 6-1, 175 pounds, was the only freshman named to any of the 2007 All-WIAC teams. He set a NCAA record for receptions in a season by a freshman. He led the WIAC in catches (97), yards (1,056) and touchdown catches (9). Zweifel set a WIAC single game record with 18 receptions against La Crosse on Nov. 3. He holds UWRF records for season catches and season receiving yards. He also holds the school record for career catches despite playing only one season. Zweifel was named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 5 and was the team's Offensive Player of the Week three times (Nov. 5, Oct. 22, Oct. 1). "Michael is a great talent," said Falcon Head Coch John O'Grady after the 2007 season. "He has a great release from the line of scrimmage and tremendous hands. He has a very competitive attitude." Zweifel is one of only three WIAC players who were named to the CDS team. UW-Whitewater kicker Jeff Schebler also earned honorable mention while UW-Oshkosh kick returner, Jeremy Roach, was amed to the second offensive team. The Falcons, who finished the 2007 season with 3-7 overall and 2-5 WIAC records, will open their 2008 season on Sept. 13 at St. John's. |
