Nov. 16, 2009 Forward Katie Flanagan (So., Roseville, Minn.) played a key role in the team's two games last weekend. The Falcons battled No. 2 ranked Gustavus Adolphus to a 3-3 overtime tie on Friday and came back with a 5-1 win over Bethel on Saturday. Flanagan, 5-7, scored the team's first goal early in the third period against Gustavus. The goal tied the game at the time, 1-1. On Saturday she scored the team's third goal at 6:10 of the second period. She also picked up the first assist on the team's fifth goal, a power-play tally, midway through the second stanza. This year Flanagan leads the team with five points on four goals and one assist. She has one game-winning goal. “Katie is our hardest worker right now,” said Falcon Coach Joe Cranston. |

Nov. 9, 2009 Goalie Cassi Campbell (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska) had a big game for the Falcons in the team's season-opening 1-0 win at No. 8 ranked St. Thomas on Friday. Campbell was perfect in goal making 41 saves to help the Falcons to the win. Campbell, 5-7, made 14 saves in the first period, 15 in the second and 12 in the third to get the shutout. “We had an all-star performance from Campbell in the nets,” said Falcon Coach Joe Cranston of his goalie. It was her eighth career shutout with the Falcons and she is now second in career shutouts. |
