Sept. 11, 2009
Keven Syverson has been named the UW-River Falls interim men’s and women’s track & field coach, according to Falcon Athletic Director Rick Bowen.
Syverson takes over for Martha Brennan who is on a leave of absence.
Syverson remains as the UWRF men’s cross country head coach and women’s cross country co-head coach. He is in his third season as coach. Scott Sekelsky is also co-head coach of the women’s cross country team.
“We are very pleased and fortunate to have someone of Keven’s talents and skills heading the indoor and outdoor track & field teams this year,” said Bowen.
“I am very excited to be able to step in for Martha during the upcoming season,” said Syverson. “The program is in very good shape and the coaching staff hopes to continue the recent success we’ve had. We have a strong nucleus returning on both the men’s and women’s sides; along with some solid recruits and transfers. The teams have some high goals for the upcoming indoor and outdoor seasons.”
Syverson helped coach Becca Jordahl to a 14th place finish in the 2008 NCAA cross country championships and All-American honors.
