Alyssa Adair

Hill-Murray High School

Alyssa Adair is in her second season with the Falcons and will swim the 50, 100 and 500 free events and the 100 back. She was named the team’s Swimmer of the Week on Dec. 12. At Hill-Murray High School she was named to the all-conference team for four seasons. She also swam in the Minnesota State championships. She is the daughter of Brian and Gayle. Adair is majoring in animal science.

North High School

Abby Bachmeier joins the Falcons for her first season of college swimming. She will swim the 200 and 500 free events. She was Eau Claire North High School’s team captain in 2006-07. She also was a state track & field State qualifier. She is the daughter of Joan and John. Bachmeier is majoring in chemistry.

5-6, Freshman
Wausau, Wis.
Wausau High School

Genna Clark is in her first season of college swimming with the Falcons and will concentrate on freestyle and breaststroke events. At Wausau High School she was named the team’s Most Improved swimmer. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Karen and Mark. Clark is undecided on a major field of study.

5-0, Sophomore
Woodbury, Minn.
Woodbury High School

Jaynell Feider returns for her second season with the Falcons and is the team’s diver. She placed sixth in the WIAC Championships in one-meter diving as a freshman last year. At Woodbury High School she was named to the all-conference team four times and was the school’s Athlete of the Year in 2006. She was the team’s captain in 2005 and earned the Academic award. She is the daughter of Jay and Donell. Feider is majoring in business.

Shawano High School

Tia Felts is in her third season with the Falcons and will swim the IM and backstroke events. Last year she was named the team’s Most Improved and Most Inspirational award winner. Felts is the team’s captain – a position she also held last year. She was twice named the team’s Swimmer of the Week in 2005-06 (Jan. 23, Dec. 5). Felts was named the team’s Most Improved after the 2005-06 season. She was named to the 2007 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. She was the captain of the team in her junior and senior years of high school and was voted 2004 Bay Conference Senior Swimmer of the Year. She is the daughter of Richard and Judy. Felts is majoring in biology.

Apple Valley High School

Tamara Hughes is in her first collegiate swimming season and will compete in the breaststroke events. At Apple Valley High School she earned three letters and was named the team’s Hardest Worker. Hughes was a member of the National Honor Society, earned an Academic award and was an AVRM letter winner. She is the daughter of Linda and Patrick. Hughes is majoring in math.

Tamra Knight joins the Falcons for her first year of college swimming and she will swim the 500 free and 100 breaststroke events. At Mounds View High School she was a team captain and letter winner. She is the daughter of Cathy and Tom. Knight is majoring in marketing communications.

Angie Kolpanen is in her second season with the Falcons and will swim the breaststroke events again this season. She is the daughter of Jeff and Cathy. Kolpanen is majoring in health & human performance.

South St. Paul High School

Jill Lambach is back with the Falcons for her second season and she will swim the 200, 100 and 50 free events. She was named the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer after the 2006-07 season and was the team’s Swimmer of the Week on Jan. 29. Lambach was named to the 2007 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. At South St. Paul High School she was named the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer three times and earned all-conference honors four times. She was also the team’s captain. Lambach was a member of the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Greg and Donna. Lambach is majoring in health & human performance.

Danielle Mandich
5-9, Junior

Jefferson High School

Danielle (Dandy) Mandich is back for her third season with the Falcons and will compete in the sprint freestyle events. She was named the team’s Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 20. Mandich was voted Most Valuable Swimmer for the 2006 season and can swim any distance freestyle though she concentrates on the sprints. She was a finalist in the 50, 100 and 200 free events at the 2006 WIAC Championships. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll after the 2006 and 2007 school years. She was also named to the UWRF Dean’s List after the spring semester. She attended Bloomington Jefferson High School and went to state in her final three years. She finished first in her section in the 50 freestyle as a senior. She is the daughter of Dan and Caroline. Mandich is majoring in elementary education.

Forest Lake High School

Rachel Merrier returns to the team for her second season and she will swim the 1,650 and 500 free and backstroke events. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll after the 2007 season. At Forest Lake High School she participated in the State Championships and earned the Ranger, Hardest Worker and Most Dedicated awards. Merrier was on the school’s academic Honor Roll and was the 4-H president. She is the daughter of Jerome and Linda. Merrier is majoring in elementary education.

Hudson High School

Martha O’Brien returns to the Falcons for her second season and will serve as one of the team’s captains for the season. She is in her third year of collegiate swimming having previously competed for UW-Eau Claire. She will swim the IM and breaststroke events. She was named the team’s Swimmer of the Week on Jan. 22. O’Brien has earned UWRF academic honors and has been named to the Dean’s List in every semester. She was named to the 2007 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. She was named Hudson High School’s Most Improved Swimmer after her senior season. She earned swimming and track & field letters. She also earned an Academic letter. She is the daughter of Michael and Mary. O’Brien is majoring in math and biochemistry.

Roxie Pingry is with the Falcons for her first year of collegiate swimming. She will compete in the butterfly and breaststroke events. At Winona High School she was named to the all-conference team. She is the daughter of Dana Selman and James Pingry. She is majoring in chemistry.

Deb Schmelzer is back for her senior season with the Falcons and will compete in the free and backstroke events. She has been named to the UWRF Dean’s List and spent the 2006 fall semester in the Scotland study abroad program. She is the chair of the East Side Area Council. At Hibbing High School she participated in the State tournament in the 200 medley relay and was named to the all-conference team. She is the daughter of Larry and Linda. Schmelzer is majoring in economics.

Emily Stein is in her first year of collegiate swimming with the Falcons and will compete in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. At Chisago Lakes High School she was voted the team’s Most Valuable Performer, captain and earned all-conference honors. She is the daughter of Deb and Jim. Stein is majoring in health & human performance.

Hurley High School

Samantha Strehlow joins the Falcons for her first year of collegiate swimming and she will compete in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly events. She competed with the Hurley YMCA team and competed in several events at state tournaments. She also ran cross country and was named to the all-conference team. Strehlow was a member of the National Honor Society and is in the UWRF Honors program. She is the daughter of Dawn and Larry. Strehlow is majoring in biology and pre-physical therapy.

Tomahawk High School

Ashley Swenty returns for her third season with the Falcons and will compete in the backstroke and sprint freestyle events. She was named to the UWRF Dean’s List and to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll after the 2006 and 2007 seasons. She competed in the state meet all four years at Tomahawk High School. Swenty was a class officer and a member of the National Honor Society. She finished second at state her junior year and was a captain her junior and senior year. She is the daughter of Scott and Ann. Swenty is majoring in elementary education.

North High School

Katelyn Teske joins the Falcons for her first season of collegiate swimming and will compete in the 100 free and 100 backstroke events. At Appleton North High School she earned a swimming letter, was a member of the National Honor Society and earned a Golden Tassel. She is the daughter of Cheryl and Jeff. Teske is majoring in pre-veterinary medicine.

Washburn High School

Ranndi Tutor is in her first season with the Falcons and will compete in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. She competed in the Midwest Regional for four seasons and holds 50 and 100 free pool records. She was a founding member of the Bayfield swim team. She earned Academic honors at Washburn High School. She is the daughter of Michelle Tutor and William Fenrick. Tutor is majoring in social work.

Flambeau High School

Rachael Westlund returns for her third year with the Falcons and will compete in the 1,650, 1000 and 500 freestyle events. She was named the team’s Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 11 in the 2007 season and on Nov. 21 in the 2006 season. She attended Flambeau High School and was awarded Most Valuable senior and Most Consistent awards by her teammates. She is the daughter of Drew and Debbie. Westlund is majoring in marketing communications.

Farmington High School

Sarah Winkler returns for her second season and will compete in the butterfly events for the Falcons. She was named to the UWRF Dean’s List after the spring 2007 season when she earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She was named to the 2007 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. At Farming High School she earned honorable mention to the all-conference team three times, was the team’s Most Valuable Simmer and team captain. Winkler was a member of the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Dan and Pam. Winkler is majoring in biomedical sciences.

Hudson High School

Katie Zappa is in her first year of college swimming with the Falcons. At Hudson High School she was the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer twice, was named to the all-conference team, participated in the WIAA State championship four times and was the team’s captain in 2003. Zappa was named to the academic all-conference team. She earned a Yearbook scholarship and was the yearbook editor for two years. She is the daughter of Betty and Jerry. Zappa is majoring in food science.

Josh Anderson is in his first season of collegiate swimming with the Falcons and will compete in the backstroke events. He is the son of Nancy and Rich. His brother, Justin, is also a member of the team. Anderson is majoring in pre-professional studies

Justin Anderson joins the Falcons for his first year of college swimming and will swim the 200 and 500 freestyle events. At Roseville High School he earned swimming and bowling letters. He is the son of Nancy and Rich. His brother, Josh, is also a member of the team. Anderson is majoring in pre-veterinary medicine.

Dan Blasberg is in his first year of swimming with the Falcons and he will compete in the short distance freestyle events. At Eagan High School he was named to all-conference team and was his team’s Most Improved award winner. Blasberg was a member of the Honor Roll and the National Honor Society. He is the son of Nancy and Gary. Blasberg is majoring in business administration.

Sean Brenerman joins the Falcons for his first season of collegiate swimming and he will compete in the butterfly events. At Tartan High School he was his team’s Most Valuable Swimmer and was twice the team’s captain. He was named to the all-conference team and was the Rookie and the Year and Hardest Worker awards winner. He is the son of Barbara Breneman and Frank Fabio. Breneman is majoring in management.

Mike (Tweak) Brudzinski is in his junior season with the Falcons. He will compete in the breaststroke and IM events. He was named the team’s Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 30. He was a finalist in the breaststroke and IM events at the 2006 WIAC Championships. He was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll after the 2005-06 and 2006-07 school years. At Tartan High School he was his team’s captain and was named to the all-conference team. Brudzinski was the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer and won the team’s Most Improved, Hardest Worker and Rookie of the Year awards. He was a member of the National Honor Society and earned an Academic letter. He is the son of Paul and Dawn. Brudzinski is majoring in math education.

Tyler Campbell returns to the Falcons for his second year and will compete in the distance freestyle and IM events. He was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll after the 2007 school year. At Eau Claire North High School he earned an Academic award for maintaining a 4.0 GPA during his sport season. He is the son of Mike Campbell and Marcie Gorfain. Campbell is majoring in physics.

Erick (Dorny) Dornseif returns for his third season with the Falcons. He will compete in the backstroke and freestyle events. He was a finalist in backstroke events at the 2006 WIAC Championships. He was named the team’s Swimmer of the Week twice (Jan. 23, Dec. 19) during the 2006 season. He was named the team’s Most Improved after the season. He competed with the North Suburban Aquatic Club team and at Mounds View High School. He is the son of Jim and Teresa. Dornseif is majoring in art education.

Park High School

Tom (Ninja) Fritchen is back for his senior season with the Falcons and is the team’s captain again this year. He will swim the butterfly and freestyle events and has been a finalist at the WIAC championships. Fritchen was named the team’s Most Inspiration award winner after the 2007 season. He is a co-founder and president of the UWRF water polo club. He was twice named the team’s Swimmer of the Week (Jan. 30, Nov. 21) during the 2006 season. He was named the UWRF’s Most Improved swimmer in 2005. He competed in the WIAA State Meet as a freshman at Racine Park High School and was the team’s captain in his senior season. He is the son of William and Maureen. Fritchen is majoring in art.

LeRoy-Ostrander High School

Dave (DJ) Johnson is back for his third season with the Falcons and will compete in the 50 and 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly events. He is one of the team’s captains this year. He was named the team’s Most Improved award winner after the 2007 season and was the team’s Swimmer of the Week twice (Dec. 11, Jan. 22). Johnson was a finalist at the 2006 WIAC Championships. Johnson was named to the 2006 and 2007 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and has been on the UWRF’s Dean’s List in every semester but one. He won four state titles in the 2005 YMCA Championships. At LeRoy-Ostrander High School he was the team’s captain twice, was a member of the National Honor Society and a class officer. He is the son of Lloyd and Jane. Johnson is majoring in physics.

Mike Keyser returns for his senior season and will swim the 50 and 100 freestyle and 100 and 200 backstroke events. He was the team’s captain in the 2007 season. He was a finalist in the backstrokes at the 2006 WIAC Championships. He was named the team’s Swimmer of the Week once during the 2006 season. He competed with the Lake Placid High School team in Florida and the U.S. Paralympic swim team that traveled to Athens in September of 2004 for the Paralympic Games. He is the son of Kenneth and Jane. Keyser is majoring in health & human performance.

Jacob Moe is in his second season with the Falcons and will swim the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle and 100 and 200 breaststroke events. He was named to the Fall 2006 UWRF Dean’s List. He was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll after the 2006 and 2007 school years. At Onalaska High School he was the cross country team captain. He is the son of William and Barbara. Moe is majoring in conservation.

Anthony Orlando is back for his second season with the Falcons and will compete in the butterfly, freestyle and IM events. He also competed with the Falcon cross country team. He is the son of Tony and Debra. Orlando is majoring in physics.

Chaska High School

Tyler Ormson returns for his second season with the Falcons and will compete in the freestyle events. He was the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer in 2007. Ormson was named the team’s swimmer of the week three times (Nov. 6, Nov. 13, Dec. 4) in the 2006-07 season. He was named to the 2007 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. At Chaska High School he was the swim team captain and earned three letters. He is the son of Patty and Mitch. Ormson is majoring in creative writing.

Tom Pierson will join the Falcons after the first semester. He will compete in the sprint freestyle events. He is the son of Jeff Pierson and Janell Johnson. Pierson is undecided on a major field of study.

Eden Prairie High School

Mark Thorsen is in his first season with the Falcons and will swim the distance freestyle events. He is the son of Judy and Bill. Thoreson is majoring in computer science.

Nico Wallat
5-8, Freshman
Brooklyn Park, Minn.
Champlin Park High School

Nico Wallat joins the Falcons for his first season of college swimming and will compete in the 50 and 200 freestyle events. At Champlin Park High School he was the team’s Most Valuable swimmer and team captain. He was a state qualifier and was named the team’s Most Inspirational swimmer. Wallat was named to the all-conference team. He graduated with academic honors. He is the son of Cheryl. Wallat is majoring in sociology.
