"Saving a child from Arthritis one mile at a time"
Alpha Omicron Pi invites you to our fall philanthropy event to raise money for Juvenile Arthritis. One in five Americans have or will have Arthritis. The money we raise goes to the Arthritis Foundation to fund further research. 300,000 children in the United States have Juvenile Arthritis. There are more than 100 forms of Arthritis and related diseases and last year the disease cost the US economy 128 billion dollars. Through your support, we can raise money to help fund research to find a cure for this disease.
Run for the Roses is a 5k Run and 1K Children's Fun Run through the streets of River Falls, beginning at Veterans Park.
Entry Fee: 5K Run- Paid on/before Wednesday October 1 - $20 (guarantees Run for Roses Race day shirt), after $25
1K Children's Run- Paid on/before October 1 - $10 (guarantees Run for Roses Race day shirt), after $12

The Technical program consists of lecture/discussions on food-borne pathogens, toxins, safety, quality, and shelf-life issues by speakers from academia, industry, and regulatory agencies. 3-4 p.m. - Ann Lydecker Lecture Series: Adrian Tinsley
Please join us for the first in a new lecture series set up in memory of the late Ann Lydecker, former UWRF Chancellor. Dr. Lydecker was a beloved leader at UWRF whose leadership skills and personal connections to the community and campus are fondly remembered by many. This annual event, called The Ann Lydecker Lecture Series on Women in Leadership, will feature a different speaker each year discussing issues faced by women leaders in many contexts.
The first speaker, Professor Adrian Tinsley, was the first woman president at Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts. During her presidency there, Tinsley increased enrollment, secured new and greater funding from many sources, and improved the college's ranking through her superb management skills. Tinsley was also a friend and mentor of Ann Lydecker; the two worked together at BSC, and remained in close contact when Lydecker came to UWRF as Chancellor.
Special thanks to Bill Lydecker, Ann's husband, for making this series possible.
