MUS 100 Understanding Music (HF) or any other GEUR General Education Music course, including MUS 105 Popular Music, MUS 234 Music History I, MUS 235 Music History II, MUS 255 History of Jazz, MUS 300 World Music, and MUS 320 Music & Movies. Note: do not double count in Music Minor Enrichment & Exploration classes below.
Module 1: Foundations, 6 credits minimum
Choose 6 cr. from the following courses: MUS 101 Music Fundamentals, 3 cr. MUS 110 Intro to Music Studies, 3 cr. MUS 181 Intro to Music Education, 3 cr. MUS 130 Musicianship I, 3 cr, or MUS 131 Musicianship II, 3 cr.
Module 2: Applied Music, 4 credits minimum
Choose 4 cr. from MUSA 100-level Applied Music Courses: MUSA 120, 121, 122, 123,124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 130, 131, 132. Applied Music courses availble in several areas including Brass, Guitar, Harpsichord, Organ, Percussion, Piano, Strings, Voice, Woodwinds, Conducting, Composition, and Jazz Improvisation. MUSA course fees may apply. Additional MUSA Applied Music are possible and encouraged, but 4 cr. is the minimum.
Module 3: Music Ensembles, 4 credits minimum
Choose 4 cr. from MUSE Music Ensemble Courses: MUSE Music Ensembles 100, 101, 105, 106, 107, 108, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 129, 130, 160, 161. Music Ensembles courses available in several areas including Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Women's Chorus, Pep Band, Symphony Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, and World Music Ensemble. Additional MUSE Ensembles are possible and encouraged, but 4 cr. is the minimum.
Module 4: Enrichment & Exploration, 4 credits minimum
Choose 4 cr. in MUS courses from the UWRF Catalog. Several courses available including the following courses which double count in GEUR Gen Ed credits: MUS 105 Popular Music, MUS 234 Music History I, MUS 235 Music History II, MUS 255 History of Jazz, MUS 300 World Music, and MUS 320 Music & Movies. Note: do not double count in Music Minor Introductory "Gateway" classes above.
