April 8, 2025 - The College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls has deep roots in agriculture. As the agricultural industry changes and evolves, organizers of the annual Ag Day on Campus aim to celebrate not just accomplishments in the industry, but a longstanding passion for agriculture.
The event, hosted by the UWRF Collegiate Farm Bureau (CFB), is set for Thursday, April 10. The day will begin with opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. in the area in front of the University Center, E. 501 Wild Rose Ave., River Falls.
Now in its 13th year, the theme for this year’s event, “Raising the Bar in Agriculture,” celebrates the university community’s accomplishments within the field and the continued goal of being industry leaders.
“It’s our biggest event of the year and so many students look forward to it. We are happy to host it,” said CFB President Lashawna Vogel., a senior agriculture marketing communications major.
Ag Day will be filled with speakers, games, panels and activities. Students will showcase their talents with over 25 registered student organization booths, in addition to other industry professionals. Events will be hosted all day but highlights include a milk chugging contest hosted by the Dairy Club at 9:55 a.m., the Ag Royalty Panel from 12:15-1 p.m. and a roping competition hosted by the Rodeo Club from 1-2 p.m. The day will conclude at 6 p.m. with a special screening of “A World Without Cows” in Ag Science 200, followed by a free dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Ag Day on Campus has partnered with Freddy’s Dairy Bar and will have campus-produced food items available throughout the day. The recently renovated Wuethrich Family/Grassland Dairy Center of Excellence provides students with hands-on experience producing dairy products using milk from campus cows.
Cheese curds and ice cream are marketed and sold under the name “Falcon Creamery” and are sold at Freddy’s Dairy Bar, located on the second floor of Ag Sci. Falcon Creamery will have an Ag Day booth and will offer samples of their special Ag Day ice cream flavor, “Falcon Tracks,” a vanilla ice cream with chocolate cups and raspberry filling. Additional dairy products will be available for purchase at Freddy’s Dairy Bar from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Ag Day on Campus chairs Brooke Beardsley, Katie Thome and JoHannah Gehrke shared that the strength of the agriculture industry stood out while choosing a theme.
“We wanted to demonstrate not only how important agriculture is both on and off-campus, but also how strong and powerful this industry can be,” they said. “From the many on-campus organizations that help put this event on, to the dedicated agriculturalists that join us throughout the day as speakers and attendees, this theme told a story and that story was Ag Day.”
“This year, we hope to showcase the strength and power of our industry and how we as farmers, scientists and students will continue to grow ourselves and raise the bar in agriculture.”
