Music and Stage and Screen Arts Department presents Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”

March 20, 2025 — The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Music and Stage and Screen Arts Department will present an innovative and immersive production of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” exploring the intersection of technology and Shakespeare’s timeless language.

The beloved comedy tells the story of Viola, a shipwrecked stranger in the fantastical world of Illyria. Disguised as her brother to secure a position in the court of Duke Orsino, Viola becomes entangled in mistaken identities, love triangles, and witty schemes.

The UWRF production sets Illyria under the sea, using projections, high-tech lighting and sound effects, along with original music and creative staging, to immerse audiences in Shakespeare’s world.

The artistic team includes UWRF students and faculty, with Kathy Welch directing and Kyle Gettelman as scenic designer. Original music is composed by Landon Zientara. Find the list of cast members on the University Theatre webpage.

The production has multiple showtimes:

Friday, April 4, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 5, 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 6, 2 p.m.
Thursday, April 10, 7:30 p.m.
Friday, April 11, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, April 12, 7:30 p.m.

All performances will take place in Blanche Davis Theatre in the Kleinpell Fine Arts Building, 420 E. Cascade Ave., River Falls.
