The staff of Ability Services, greatly appreciate your support as a parent. This is especially true if you're able to come to your son or daughter's first appointment. However, it's important that your son or daughter is able to quickly develop a sense of feeling at ease when sharing personal information with the staff. Once classes start and the campus gets busy there are many things that compete for the student's time and attention. Thus, the best time for a new student to become familiar with us is probably before classes start. From the very beginning you can promote a working relationship between us by encouraging your son or daughter to be the person who contacts us with any questions or concerns. For instance, if you have a question about something before your son or daughter starts classes, ask him or her to call us while you're in the same room and close by.
