Program Director
The Director of the HHI is Dr. Kurt Vogel, Professor of Livestock Welfare and Behavior. Vogel earned his PhD in Livestock Behavior and Welfare under Dr. Temple Grandin at Colorado State University and has been a go-to resource for humane livestock handling and stunning in industry and academia for many years.
Program Manager
Program Manager of the HHI is Ashlynn Kirk. Kirk earned degrees in animal science at the University of Wisconsin- River Falls and the University of California, Davis. As Program Manager, she is responsible for daily operations of the HHI, workshop planning, content creation, communicating with slaughter establishments, and overseeing student program technicians.
Outreach Program Manager
Outreach Program Manager of the HHI is Angela Whitaker. Whitaker earned her Master of Science in Agricultural Education at UW-River Falls, and specializes in program development for adults in the workforce.
