Foreign Born Residents

• The percentage of foreign-born residents has been rising slowly in Wisconsin as a whole.
• The four counties in the St. Croix Valley have less than half the proportion of foreign-born residents as in Wisconsin as a whole.
• The proportion of foreign-born residents has been stagnant in Polk, Pierce and Burnett counties in the last three years, while it has been falling in St. Croix County since 2020.

• The proportion of foreign-born residents has increased substantially in Minnesota.
• Washington County has seen an increase in foreign-born residents since 2014 
• Chisago County has less than one-third the proportion of foreign-born residents as the state, but has seen a modest increase since 2016.

• Minnesota has a much higher proportion of foreign-born residents than Wisconsin.
• Washington is the only St. Croix Valley county with a significant foreign-born population.

The other five St. Croix Valley Counties have only between 1% and 3% foreign-born residents.
