First Year Experience

For new students entering UWRF, the First Year Experience (FYE) program stands ready as a dedicated support system, facilitating a seamless transition and fostering academic achievement on the campus.

We strive to equip all incoming students at UWRF with essential resources and a robust support network. The academic journey commences with engaging events during the Fall's Week of Welcome and the Spring's Winter Week of Welcome, designed to create a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere.

Beyond these introductory events, FYE extends its support through the Peer Success Coach Program. For new students who are looking for guidance and peer support throughout the school year and are matched with a Peer Success Coach (PSC) The PSCs serve as reliable guides throughout the first year, offering invaluable connections and support.

Recognizing the significance of family and supporter involvement, UWRF has also introduced The Falcon Family Experience. This dedicated platform keeps families and supporters informed and engaged in their student's university journey.

At UWRF's First Year Experience, the commitment is unwavering: to make the first year unforgettable and full of opportunities for personal growth and academic success. Welcome to the beginning of an extraordinary journey at UWRF!

Mentoring Programs

Peer Success Coach Program

The Peer Success Coach Program (PSCP) is here to support new students who are looking for guidance and support during their first year at UWRF. This includes international and transfer students. We want to ensure that all new students on our campus are well supported and have resources they need to succeed on our campus. Each student in our program is paired with a Peer Success Coach and will meet them throughout the academic school year.

Fund For Wisconsin Scholars

FFWS, a nonprofit charitable foundation, operates as a private entity with a mission to extend financial assistance to graduates of Wisconsin public high schools who are pursuing their education at four-year colleges and universities within the University of Wisconsin system. The primary aim is to ensure these students have the necessary financial support to access and successfully complete their college education.

As part of this initiative, first-year students who are selected for assistance become integral members of the FFWS Mentoring Program at UWRF. Through this program, students have the unique opportunity to establish connections with their fellow FFWS peers, fostering a strong, supportive community that accompanies them throughout their initial year at UWRF.
