Emergency Response Guide

Emergency Communication/Alarm System

Smoke Detection - Fire Alarm In the event of a fire, smoke detection systems will activate the alarm automatically.  The alarm for a building-wide evacuation will be alarm tones followed by a voice message indicating the fire alarm has been activated. All occupants are required to evacuate the building when the alarm sounds. Building occupants should remain outside of the building until both the audible and visual strobe light alarms stop.

Fire Alarm Activation Station (Pull Station) Fire alarm activation stations are located throughout campus buildings and are activated by pulling down the lever on the face of the pull station.  All employees and students must become familiar with the location of these stations in their area.

Emergency Alert System (EAS) Emergency Alert System messages are broadcast through all campus fire alarm speakers.  The EAS broadcasts severe weather alerts and civil defense messages.  The Emergency Operations Center may also broadcast emergency notifications through the EAS and campus television stations. (The Emergency Alert System feature is only available on "main campus" North of the South Fork River).

Emergency Communications Network UWRF has the capability to send mass emergency notifications via email, voice message, and text message through the use of UWRF Alert Emergency Network.  To ensure you receive appropriate emergency notifications, login to the self-service section of eSIS and provide the phone number you wish to have voice and text notifications sent to.  Refer to the www.uwrf.edu/emergency website for more detailed information.
