Keep those math skills sharp over summer!

The learning loss students experience over the summer can significantly impact a student’s performance in the new school year. The Summer Bridge Program in Mathematics helps prevent the “summer slide” by providing guided instruction on key topics to review and practice skills to be prepared for the coming year.

Join Our Summer Bridge Program in Mathematics!

Looking for a fun and engaging way to explore math this summer? Our Summer Bridge Program is open to all students eager to dive into exciting and relevant math topics. Each program's description includes the topics covered, helping parents and students choose the best fit.

Why Choose Our Program?

For grades 1-8, classes are designed to help your child review key skills from the previous grade or be prepared for the new school year! Each course is taught by a dedicated instructor who has experience working with elementary or middle school students. The courses are interactive, allowing students to ask and answer questions in real time.

For example, our Grade 3 program is perfect for students who have just completed 3rd grade and want to keep their skills sharp, or for those preparing for 3rd grade and eager to get a head start on the upcoming year's topics.

Classes are tailored to the reading level of each grade (e.g., Grade 3 instruction will be at a 3rd grade reading level).

The first grade class covers basic arithmetic, including number families, place value, and addition and subtraction through two digits, including carrying and borrowing; counting, adding, and subtracting with coins; time, including reading digital and analog clocks to whole and half hours; measurement basics; introduction to graphs; basic geometry including essential characteristics of shapes; fractions up to quarters.

The second grade class covers basic arithmetic through addition and subtraction of three digit numbers, including place value and adding multiples of the same number; counting, adding, and subtracting with coins; time, including reading digital and analog clocks to quarter hours; measurement, including both English and Metric System units; graphs and data representation; geometry including essential characteristics of shapes and area measurement using square units; fractions up to ninths.

The third grade class covers basic arithmetic through addition and subtraction up to four digits, and multiplication and division to three digits; foundations of algebra including sequences and basic properties of operations; time, including reading digital and analog clocks to minutes and solving time problems; measurement, including both English and Metric System units of length, area, volume and weight; graphs and data representation; geometry including two and three dimensional shapes, and area and perimeter; fractions including labeling a number line.

The fourth grade class covers arithmetic including numeration to 1,000,000, adding and subtracting to five digits, and multiplication and division to five total digits; foundations of algebra including sequences and basic properties of operations; measurement including both English and Metric System units of length, area, volume and weight, and unit conversions; graphs and data representation; geometry including parallel and perpendicular lines, angle measurement, types of triangles, and symmetry; fractions including addition and subtraction of mixed numbers, multiplication, and equivalent fractions.

The fifth grade class covers arithmetic including place value, decimals, adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers, and multiplication and division to five total digits including decimals and fractions; foundations of algebra including parentheses, brackets, and order of operations; word problems including translation keys; measurement including both English and Metric System units of length, area, volume and weight, and unit conversions; graphs and data representation; geometry including angle measurement, area, volume, and circle facts; graphing points, horizontal, and vertical lines on a coordinate grid.

The sixth grade class covers multiplication and division of decimals; number properties including factors and multiples; multiplication and division of fractions and mixed numbers; ratios, proportions, rates, and percents; integers and absolute value; the coordinate plane; expressions, equations and inequalities; exponents and scientific notation; areas of parallelograms and right triangles; volume and surface area of right rectangular prisms; and measures of central tendency.

The seventh grade class covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers and rational numbers; equivalence of rational and decimal representations; properties of numbers; expressions, equations, and inequalities; ratios, rates, and percents; proportional relationships and graphing; area and perimeter of right triangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids; area and circumference of circles; scale drawings; angle relationships; volume and surface area of prisms; data and statistics including sampling; and probability and compound events.

The eighth grade class covers positive and negative exponents; scientific notation; square and cube roots; irrational numbers including decimal approximations and relative order; solving equations in one variable; linear equations including slope-intercept form and graphing; systems of two linear equations; functions; rotation, reflection, and translation; congruent shapes; angle relationships; and the Pythagorean theorem.

Each course consists of twelve (12) 50-minute sessions. The sessions are delivered in live-online format with a live instructor presenting each class session. Sessions are divided into either a 6-week or 3-week schedule.

  • Sample 6-Week Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays 10:00am – 10:50am
  • Sample 3-Week Schedule: Mondays – Thursdays 10:00am – 10:50am

In addition to the scheduled class sessions, students will have access to recorded versions of each class session which can be used to preview topics, replace sessions which the student is unable to attend, or review content from a different perspective.

Several three or six-week sections available with start dates June through July.  See registration link to find the one that is right for you!
