Why Study Adapted Physical Education?

Minor | Health and Human Performance | CEBAH

Our adapted physical education minor prepares educators to create movement and activity programs for people with disabilities. You'll learn to modify, adapt, direct and test rudimentary movement processes. The program trains physical education teachers to provide adapted physical education for school children with disabilities in the least restrictive, most appropriate and most inclusive environments.

Our adapted physical education minor is a 20-credit minor for students seeking teacher certification to meet the needs of students with disabilities within physical education. This certification is an add-on minor for health and physical education majors as part of the baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate program. It's not a standalone program.
