Join us Sunday, March 30 for Silent Sky at the Phipps in Hudson. Full of wonder, humor, and heart, Silent Sky is the remarkable true story of Henrietta Leavitt, one of the pioneering women astronomers working at Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s. Henrietta transcended the odds while navigating love, family, and the universe, going on to make a world-altering advancement to the field of astronomy that changed our view of the cosmos forever.

Eileen Korenic, a recently retired professor at UW-River Falls, is a distinguished physicist dedicated to advancing scientific literacy. She holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Rochester, along with multiple degrees in physics, biology, chemistry and education.
Korenic’s pioneering research in physics and color science has been showcased at international conferences and earned her prestigious honors, including the Glenn H. Brown Prize for her thesis. Before joining the faculty at UW-River Falls, she worked as a color scientist at 3M, applying her expertise to real-world innovations.
Beyond her academic achievements, Korenic is passionate about science outreach. She shares her knowledge through children’s articles and engaging presentations at laser labs, observatories, planetariums, and other public venues.
